Practice Sound Library
These are short, raw recordings from the making of the course — no narration, just sound. They’re for ear training: put on headphones, pick a clip, and loop it until the echoes step forward out of the background. A clip a day makes a good warm-up before a lesson.
Stick clicks in the park, take 1
Two sticks struck together in an open park. Listen for the late, soft echo returning from buildings far away — it arrives well after each click.
Stick clicks in the park, take 2
The same exercise, different position. Compare: do the echoes return faster or slower than in take 1? From the same side?
Bowl sounds up close
The bowl demonstration from Lesson 3, raw. Deep bowl, shallow bowl, flat plate — learn each voice.
Claps from the play structure
Claps recorded from the top of the playground structure in Lesson 6. Notice how open everything sounds below and around.
How to practice with these
- Loop one clip three to five times in a row. The first listen orients you; the later listens are where the learning happens.
- Ask one question per listen: When does the echo arrive? Which ear hears it first? Is the answering surface hard or soft?
- Then go make the real sound yourself — sticks, claps, or clicks — somewhere near home, and compare.
